Country Outing: The West-Eastern Divan - concert by ensemble Anima Shirvani
Where: Bullenstall (Kulturhof Knechtsteden)
Organiser: Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden
Goethe's poems West-Eastern Divan (1819) reveal the conviction that different cultures can meet and understand each other. This collection, inspired by the poetry of the Persian poet Hafiz, is one of the most central analyses of the Orient in the history of Western literature.
Ensemble Anima Shirvani interprets Goethe's Divan from its rich context and cultural background. Pieces by German composers meet works of the traditional Persian and Azerbaijani music form mugam, played on the exotic instruments of the era and embedded in texts from Goethe's West-Eastern Divan.
Tickets 19 €/15 € (reduced) plus booking fee at the booking offices of KölnTicket
